The Imam Mahdi Clarifies for Us More About the Meaning of the Sha’aer¹ of al-Hajj² and the Manasik³ of al-Hajj

¹Arabic: Sacred Landmarks of al-Hajj

²Arabic: al-ḥajj; meaning: "The Pilgrimage", "The Hajj"

³Arabic: Acts of Worship of al-Hajj

Quote from a post by

(English:Ta’ih).

I prefer a response from the Imam instead of the random responses from some brothers. As for al-Tafath (Arabic: التفث),
you said it is the sweat that is released out of a man's body, but is it of the Sha’aer of al-Hajj!!

End of quote

.

In the name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Prayers of forgiveness and peace be upon the prophets of Allaah and their righteous families and the followers of the call of the truth with insight from their Lord till the Day of Judgment

O al-Ta’ih (Arabic, lost), you are truly aptly named, for you are lost in misguidance. Do not mix Sha'aer al-Hajj with Manasik al-Hajj and the Sunah⁴ of al-Hajj

.

⁴ traditions

As for al-Sha'aer (Arabic: Plural) its singular form is Mash’ar (Arabic: مَشعَر), and they are the sacred landmarks where you perform al-Manasik (the Acts of Worship during al-Hajj). In line with the Word of Allaah the Exalted

:

{فَإِذَا أَفَضْتُم مِّنْ عَرَفَاتٍ فَاذْكُرُواْ اللّهَ عِندَ الْمَشْعَرِ الْحَرَامِ} صدق الله العظيم [البقرة:198].

Qur'an — al-Baqarah — Chapter:02 — Verse: 198

Meaning at the Sacred Mosque, which is to circumambulate al- Ka’bah , as well as the area of Safa and Marwa, which are among the sacred landmarks of Allaah. In line with the Word of Allaah the Exalted

:

{إِنَّ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةَ مِن شَعَآئِرِ اللّهِ فَمَنْ حَجَّ الْبَيْتَ أَوِ اعْتَمَرَ فَلاَ جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِ أَن يَطَّوَّفَ بِهِمَا وَمَن تَطَوَّعَ خَيْراً فَإِنَّ اللّهَ شَاكِرٌ عَلِيمٌ (158)}

صدق الله العظيم [البقرة]

Qur'an — Surah: al-Baqarah — Verse: 158

As for al-Manasik, they are acts of worship carried out by hajj performers. And the proof is evident in the Word of Allaah the Exalted

:

{وَأَتِمُّواْ الْحَجَّ وَالْعُمْرَةَ لِلّهِ فَإِنْ أُحْصِرْتُمْ فَمَا اسْتَيْسَرَ مِنَ الْهَدْيِ وَلاَ تَحْلِقُواْ رُؤُوسَكُمْ حَتَّى يَبْلُغَ الْهَدْيُ مَحِلَّهُ فَمَن كَانَ مِنكُم مَّرِيضاً أَوْ بِهِ أَذًى مِّن رَّأْسِهِ فَفِدْيَةٌ مِّن صِيَامٍ أَوْ صَدَقَةٍ أَوْ نُسُكٍ}

صدق الله العظيم [البقرة:196]

Qur'an — al-Baqarah — Verse: 196

What does Allaah mean by

{أَوْ نُسُكٍ}

?

He precisely means: an expiation. So do not jumble appellations, dear brother

.

O man, hajj performers gets dirty and secrete an odour of different names; one of them is
Tafath,
تَفَث

which means someone has sweated excessively and developed a pungent sweat odour

.

Does not a hajj performer sweat during pilgrimage? That is exactly the point of showering, to remove other impurities from a hajj performer, such as hair and dust. It is impossible for someone who ended their activities of hajj to not shower and stay with their ugly sweat odour. May Allaah guide you, my brother, al-Ta’ih, to the straight path of Allaah

.

In order not to go off topic, I will tell you about the far-reaching wisdom behind showering. It is for getting rid of their dirt and sweat prior to going to al-Ka’ba. I wonder if you prefer they circumambulate the Ka'ba with their fetid odour during their Tawaf al-Ifadah (circumambulation of Pouring Forth) after marching from Mecca to Mina, Muzdalifah, Arafat then going back? Imagine how fetid the smell of al-Masjid al-Haram will be! Fear Allaah

..

I swear, if you make sure you do not enter the houses of Allaah with your foul odour, you are glorifying the sanctities of Allaah by keeping them clean, and this comes from pious hearts. That is why Allaah the Exalted said

:

Qur'an —Surah: al-Hajj — Verses: 29-30

To glorify the sanctities of Allaah, keep them clean and free of the bad smell of your sweat

.

Peace be upon the messengers, and all praise is due to Allaah Lord of the worlds

Your brother, Imam Mahdi Nasser Mohammed al-Yamani
